Vice City
GTA VI returns to modern-day Vice City, the neon-bright headline of Leonida where glamour, hustle and greed collide.

Vice City, in one minute
Vice City is back, but Rockstar is not presenting it as the whole story. GTA VI returns to modern-day Vice City inside the wider state of Leonida, while the official setup follows Jason and Lucia after an easy score goes wrong and pulls them into a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state.
That framing matters. Vice City is the neon-bright name on the box, yet Rockstar also asks players to explore “Vice City and beyond.” The city is a confirmed part of Leonida, not a stand-alone promise with a confirmed map, boundary or list of activities.
[1][3]Everything in Excess
Rockstar’s own heading for Vice City is “Everything in Excess.” Its description calls the city the sun-and-fun capital of America and puts glamour, hustle and greed in the same frame. It is a sharp update to the familiar name: bright surfaces, loud ambition and plenty of room for the deal underneath the deal.
The official GTA VI premise supplies the darker edge. Rockstar describes Jason and Lucia’s story as taking them to the darkest side of the sunniest place in America. That is the publisher’s mood-setting language, not confirmation of a specific mission, criminal group or gameplay system.
[2][1]Four confirmed names to know
Rockstar has already put several Vice City names on the record. Ocean Beach is associated with pastel Art Deco hotels and bright white sands. Little Cuba is called out for bustling panaderías. The Tisha-Wocka flea market is linked with bootleg brands, while VC Port is described as the cruise ship capital of the world.
These are the named places in Rockstar’s current overview, not a confirmed complete district list. The official material does not yet establish city boundaries, how every place connects, or which locations players can enter.
[2]The people putting Vice City on the board
Boobie Ike is described by Rockstar as a local Vice City legend who turned time on the street into a legitimate empire across real estate, a strip club and a recording studio. His partnership with Dre’Quan Priest on Only Raw Records is presented as the venture he cares about most.
Dre’Quan is pursuing a break on the Vice City music scene after dealing on the streets to make ends meet. Rockstar also says he has signed Real Dimez, the viral rap duo with a heavy social-media presence. Those descriptions make status, music and image a visible part of Vice City’s official cast, but they do not confirm missions, ownership mechanics or who controls the city.
[3]Vice City is the headline. Leonida is the pressure around it.
Rockstar calls Leonida the home of the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond. The central conspiracy reaches across that wider state, so the city should be read as a major setting within Leonida rather than the confirmed limit of GTA VI’s world.
That is the useful distinction for returning players. Vice City has the recognition factor. Leonida is the broader frame Rockstar has actually announced.
[1][3]The old Vice City and GTA VI
Rockstar’s 2002 Grand Theft Auto: Vice City was a story set in the 1980s. GTA VI is officially described as a return to modern-day Vice City with Jason and Lucia at the center of a new Leonida-wide conspiracy.
The shared name is meaningful history, not proof of direct continuity. Rockstar has not confirmed a return for legacy characters, old landmarks, the earlier map layout, or a remake of the 2002 story.
[5][1]Miami, Florida, and the line between fact and inspirationUnconfirmed
The quick shorthand is useful: Vice City reads as a fictional Miami, while Leonida reads as a fictional Florida. But it is still shorthand. Rockstar’s GTA VI pages name Vice City and Leonida as the game world; they do not confirm a literal Miami map, a literal Florida map, or a one-for-one match for any real street.
What Rockstar has made easy to recognise is the visual language. Ocean Beach brings Art Deco hotels and white sands into the official description. Little Cuba and VC Port add cultural and cruise-port signals that have obvious real-world echoes. The comparisons below explain that overlap without turning recognition into fake certainty.
[1][2][6][9]What Rockstar has not confirmedUnconfirmed
There is still a lot worth waiting for. Rockstar’s cited Vice City material does not confirm the full map or city boundaries, a complete neighbourhood list, accessible interiors, travel times, specific activities, mission chains, ownership systems, or a direct story connection to the 2002 game.
Any fan map, “returning landmark” claim, leaked clip or supposed insider detail sits outside this page’s confirmed record. When Rockstar publishes more, this entry can grow without turning speculation into history.
[1][2][3]Vice City vs. the real world
These are editorial comparisons, not a claim that GTA VI recreates any real place one-for-one.
The invitation: Vice City and Ocean Drive
Editorial comparisonRockstar names Ocean Beach for Art Deco hotels and white sands. Miami Beach’s Ocean Drive is inseparable from its Art Deco district. The connection is a strong visual echo, not evidence that this is the same street in GTA VI.[2][6][4][7]
Little Cuba and Calle Ocho
Editorial comparisonRockstar’s written overview names Little Cuba and its panaderías. Calle Ocho is a real Miami reference point for the cultural parallel. This pair is context, not a claim that the screenshot identifies Little Cuba or recreates Calle Ocho.[2][4][8]
VC Port and PortMiami
Editorial comparisonRockstar calls VC Port the cruise ship capital of the world. PortMiami uses the real-world brand Cruise Capital of the World. The rhyme in that language is striking, while the official GTA VI material still does not confirm a one-to-one port map.[2][4][9][10]
